Mary R. Poteat

Of Counsel

Mary R. Poteat brings more than 25 years of legal experience to her family law practice, with a focus on high-conflict divorce and custody matters. She understands that when families are in transition, the legal process can feel overwhelming—and the outcomes deeply personal. Her role is to provide steady guidance, strategic advocacy, and a clear path forward.

Ms. Poteat graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1999. She began her career as a judicial law clerk in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, where she gained firsthand insight into how judges evaluate evidence, credibility, and the best interests of children.

Her early career was spent handling complex litigation across a range of matters, building the analytical and courtroom skills that now serve her clients in family law. Since 2016, she has focused her practice on divorce and custody cases, particularly those involving high conflict, difficult co-parenting dynamics, and contested parenting arrangements.
